Heading out to the most glamourous party of the year this New Year’s Eve well why not pop down to New Square Shopping Centre just off the M5 at West Bromwich to pick up your party look?
I had the pleasure of styling a photo shoot this week which will hopefully act as style inspo for all you fashionista’s still on the hunt for your perfect party attire for NYE… Whether you’ve just found out that your mate has bought the exact same dress as you, or if you’ve had a last minute invite to the party of the century and ‘have to have something new’ then hopefully the items I styled from New Square’s retailers will appeal to you.
I styled the looks featuring product from the retailers on the centre at New Square including Next, River Island, Outfit, Claire’s Accesories, Peacocks and Primark. From Outift I chose the Topman and Topshop brands and my brief was to create chic party looks for my lovely models Tom and Kate. I wanted to steer away from the obvious LBD as much as possible and feature some of the more popular AW17 trends such as Disco Diva, which has been a strong favourite of mine since it came down the runways of Saint Laurent, Michael Kors and Gucci . So to that ends the objective was to go all out on velvets, deep jewel colours, and the more sparkle the better!
Saint Laurent AW17
For Tom I wanted to create sleek tailored looks for both formal and less formal occasions, in Topman (Outfit) I found the most elegant piece of corduroy tailoring I’ve seen yet this season. A trend that featured here at Officine Generale, Hermes and Giorgio Armani.
Officine Generale AW17
I styled the Overshirt with a velvet tee proving that these luxurious fabrics can be worn by boys too.
These two looks were by far my personal favourites, the blue of Tom’s jacket really made his eyes pop and the dogtooth trousers had a thin blue line within the check pulling the look together. I loved the fact that even boys can wear velvet and the black tee (all from Topman) gave the look a more luxurious feel.
As soon as I saw this dress in Primark it was the ‘one’ at £13 it is an absolute stunner of a bargain, by adding more luxury items like the fur shawl from Peacocks new SS18 collection would you believe and bringing more glamour with the shoe boots and fab sequined bag from Topshop we create a look thats a high luxe look for less than £100 !!!
With this next set of looks I wanted to create a look fit for a glamorous ball, I opted for a classic black tux but went with a tie over a bow tie as believe it or not neck tie’s will be a big trend for Menswear come SS18. I loved that I could mix and match the brands and bring in good quality pieces at a fraction of the price from Primark for Tom’s look. With Kate I opted for the LRD (Little Red Dress) which is the seasons alternative to the obvious LBD, this luscious dress from Topshop was perfect styled with the high shine patent courts from Next with the sparkle added through the Peacocks bag and fabulous Freedom Necklace available at Outfit. The pewter colour of the bag and necklace lifted the black jacket from River Island and complimented the burgandy jewel colours of the dress
Heading to more of a casual affair, maybe a house party or dinner and drinks then this is the look for you.
I chose this dress from Next as I loved the intricate embroidery and sequins and at £90 this is actually really well priced given the detail within the fabric, I also liked that it brought in seasonal colours with the burgandy and gold and the pretty fluted sleeves added an on trend vibe. I toughened the look up with the Topshop biker and pleather Bow bag from Primark, I loved the fierceness of the Gucci inspired shoes from River Island and did question myself in terms of whether the shoes were too much with the detail of the dress. But the shoes won me over in the end, the pearl studs gave the shoes a more feminine feel with a naughty edge so in the end felt perfect to be styled with this naughty but nice look.
With Tom’s look I wanted something smart and this River Island blazer was perfect, heavy and tweed like its something that I believe can be worn for an evening out as well as being work appropriate thus maximising your price per wear. A simple white tee and unripped skinny jeans (All from River Island) give this look a high contrast in colours and makes the jacket the feature piece of the look. By adding the good quality Italia branded Next lace ups and pin rolling the jeans we created a smart but edgier look.
