Slogan tee’s were brought to the forefront of a feminist revolt instigated by Dior on their SS17 catwalk as a direct two finger solute to the anti women and sexist actions and remarks of one Mr Trump. These slogan tee’s have been quickly and effectively adopted by the high street to allow all women the opportunity to have their voices heard, Peacocks are one such brand and I was excited to see their slogan was both activist and empowering… because for Autumn Winter 2017 Peacocks suggest The Future is Female…and I couldn’t agree more!
Check Blazer £30, Check Trouser £20 and Tee £10
I’ve had the pleasure of working with the Peacocks stores in many shopping centres over the last few years, styling their product in many a fashion show and I can say with hand on heart this is a good quality well priced product. I love the fact that they are bringing high end catwalk inspired pieces to the high street at a reasonable price, honestly the quality of the fabrics, stitching and structure which may be lacking from other lower priced retailers really is NOT what you get from Peacocks. I have continued to be happily surprised each time I see their collections hit the stores and its starting to become one of my favourite brands to work with as the quality of the product really does surprise and leaves you with that lovely warm feeling when you pick an item up, turn over the price tag and think “ooohh is that all”. There’s no buyers remorse here, more the thought that you’ll have those boots in both the grey AND the black because you can get 2 pairs for the price of one pair of boots from say… Topshop or River Island for example.. Its the same feeling you get when you find out that the Aldi facecream is made by the same people and ingredients as the Clarins facecream just with different packaging! And as I heard recently one of the Aldi wines is the same (Exactly) as the more expensive Oyster Bay…and that tip came directly from a wine buyer from another supermarket chain!
I strongly suggest that this forth coming Autumn Winter season you check out Peacocks, you can do so in store or online if you’d prefer, as I’ve had a sneaky peak at their upcoming collection and aside from the amazing slogan tee as seen above there are WAY more catwalk designer inspired pieces coming our way soon.
I had the pleasure of attending their Press Day last week, yep that was me excitedly fingering through rails of sumptuous fabrics, winter coats and sparkly disco party frocks while everyone else sat outside in Soho Square soaking up the 34′ heat and sun. The air con kept me mindful of what was to come weather wise and reminded me that soon enough we’ll be reaching for our trusty winter boots and coats.
So with this in mind I’ve chosen my favourite pieces from the collections to share with you so that you can be ready when this fab collection hits the stores.
The collections range in theme but with one overarching message “The collection is set to empower and inspire the modern woman with catwalk led pieces at a fraction of the price tag, inviting you to embrace your femininity however that may be.”
The Future is Female collection focuses on tailoring, block colours and graphic tees as you see above. Subtle check and animal prints in structured pieces form the backbone of this collection and in addition to the tee above I love this striking overcoat and elegant suit.
Wooly Check Blazer £35, Wooly Check Trouser £25 and Red Crombie Coat £55
The Winterfell collection was very much up my street muted pinks, greys, fur and embellishment. Mix and match your feminine florals with distressed denim for an intricate ethereal look.
Statement pieces include these two coats, one aimed at those bold hippy chicks and one more suited to office attire but both statement coats in their own right.
Now I mentioned the boots earlier and believe me they are worthy of many more mentions, these babies are almost a direct replica of the Saint Laurent boots that swept down the runway. Here they are in every colour from Saint Laurent AW17 runway
Here is RiRi wearing the diamante ones
And here are the Peacocks ones up close, for £35 a PAIR why not have both! I’ll be ordering the grey and black as soon as they land! The sequin boots are a tad more at £40 but whats a fiver when they are this fab!
And while we’re on the subject of coats, what ever your style there is a good quality coat for everyone. I personally loved the shearling coats and biker jackets which come in an array of colours. Shearling jackets embody the Folklore and 70’s vibes seen at Marc Jacob and Coach.
My favourite shearling coat is this one from the Crafted Country collection a steal at £60 given the weight and quality of it.
Shearling coat £60 Floral Printed Dress £25 and Patent Slouch Boots £35
I love this clash of floral femininity and heavy duty shearling, the dress is fab and I can see this floating down a shopping mall in one of my fashion shows very soon!
The biker jackets are where I’m going to be investing, the Bloomsbury collection embraces the colour of the season red with its bohemian inspired pieces I love this bold red biker and poppy print dress.
The evening attire is not to be missed either, two collections, one aimed at those who prefer understated glamour in tactile fabrics like velvet and lace namely La Belle Epoque and for my fellow disco divas where everything is EVERYTHING..the glitz and the glamour of Cocktail Hour with sparkles sequins and animal print fur coats. Both collections showcase the Disco Dynasty and Space Age trends with pieces inspired by Emilio Pucci, Michael Kors, Mugler and again references to Saint Laurent.
My favourites include this wonderful velvet suit that could take you from desk to bar for a cocktail or two and this Saint Laurent inspired velvet dress is to die for.
Velvet Jacket £30, Velvet Trousers £20 and Dotty Georgette Blouse £16
Velvet Puff Sleeve Dress £28…£28!!!!
And from the Cocktail Hour Collection this fab sequin dress which is also available in Gold
Sequin Dress £35
So if I’ve not managed to convince you after ALL that, that Peacocks IS worth having a look at then I don’t know what will..oh wait what about FREE delivery on orders over £50…oh wait what about the fact that if you do pay delivery they will refund it or you can return online orders to store too..
I emplore you to remember what your perceptions used to be of Primark and how they have changed, now…take a look at Peacocks because the pricing is not much more but the quality is a world away from what you expect at this price point.
Give it a go! I will!
