Fashion was blooming in Shrewsbury at the beginning of June when I had the pleasure of being invited to be the Stylist and Presenter of the Fashion in Bloom event at the Darwin and Pride Hill shopping centres in Shrewsbury.
My brief was to work with the fashion retailers within the shopping centres, identifying the best items from their Spring Summer collections showcasing the most popular trends and feature them in a series of fashion flash mob events across two days.
As the theme of the event was Florals, this was a big trend story that I pulled through in the garments I chose to feature but also Graphic Stripes, Boho Chic, Seventies as well as blush pinks and oranges from the key season’s colour trends.
We created 9 shows a day featuring some amazing pieces from the likes of Topshop, Next, River Island, Monsoon, Laura Ashley, Marks and Spencer and much much more. The models danced in and outside the centre to capture the biggest crowds possible, drawing attention to the clothes that the retailers had to offer.
My role as the presenter, was to share with the crowds where the items were from, the cost and most importantly sharing with them styling hints and tips on how to wear the latest trends to suit their own body shape.
I was also on hand for people to ask me their own style and fashion dilemma’s, where I happily advised ladies on the best style of clothes to suit their individual body shapes as well as answering any personal style or clothing questions they may have.
We also gave a fabulous Macmillan volunteer a style and pamper make over, including a personal style session with me, a shopping experience with Marks & Spencer Shrewsbury, a Gift card kindly donated by Darwin & Pride Hill as well as a free hair and nail make over.
