Intu Merryhill Style Academy

It’s been a busy few weeks, my biggest project being where I styled and presented the Autumn Winter Wardrobe section of Intu Merryhill Style Academy last weekend.
Every season Intu Merryhill launch a weekend long shopping extravaganza, showcasing all the seasons top trends through an in centre fashion event accompanied by discounts galore so that shoppers can buy the looks they see in the event.
This year I teamed up with event company Moo&Goo to fulfill the brief of styling and hosting hourly mini fashion shows over the 9th and 10th October. Each look was styled based on both trend directions as well as offering the gathered crowds key advice on how to wear the trends for different body shapes.
I had creative control over the trends and styles to focus on featuring both womenswear and menswear looks. My research included analysing trend reports, pouring over retailer look books and regularly visiting the stores to establish stock lines in store.
Given the scope of the event, I worked with 35 retailers pulling together over 100 looks, 42 featured in the final shows and the remainder of the product featured in the visual merchandising around the set, this was ‘some’ project!
I had the great pleasure of working with a highly skilled and creative team and not forgetting my gorgeous models and co presenter Leanne.

While a very busy and tiring four days I’ve got to say I was absolutely in my element! There were points where I needed to pinch myself that this is my job.
I love styling work and being able to create looks that people are so inspired by they go out and buy. One lady who saw one of my shows on the Friday returned on the Saturday to buy a top I had featured for her daughters Christmas present, which was one of my highlights.
I also spoke with shoppers on a one to one basis offering personalised styling advice. It’s pretty daunting walking up to a stranger in a shopping centre to reveal your inner most personal concerns but those that did I embraced with care and understanding and offered advice specifically for their needs.
If you came along over the weekend and wished you had asked a question feel free to email your questions to
Thanks to Intu Merryhill and Moo & Goo for such a fantastic opportunity, I look forward to Spring Summer 2016
