Optrafair 2015

I recently had the pleasure of working with a previous commercial client Optrafair on a styling and event management project which included styling and organising a series of Fashion Shows within the exhibitions Fashion Quarter. My brief was to showcase glasses from the sponsor manufacturers latest range of frames, optical trends and add value to the visitor and exhibitor experience.

Optrafair is the leading UK exhibition and educational conference dedicated to the optical profession, established in 1978 the event is based at the NEC Birmingham bi annually. This year the exhibition attracted 7000 visitors, 200 exhibitors and 500 brands, the event is enormously valued by practitioners, suppliers and educators.

I was responsible for producing 4 fashion shows per day over the 3 day event, working with 7 different manufacturers who acted as sponsors for their own individual show and who provided the frames they wished to showcase.

I styled and coordinated each show recruiting models, hair and make up working closely with Next who kindly provided the clothing from their Summer collection. As an Image Consultant I was able to provide vital consumer information for the shows scripts which covered why certain frame shapes suited certain face shapes and offering the visitors and exhibitors information regarding how important it is to match frame colours to skin tones, eye and hair colour.

As a way to interact further with the visitors I created a Twitter Selfie competition which encouraged engagement between the visitors, exhibitors and the models. As a result there was further opportunity for images of the manufacturers frames and the clothing from Next to be shared even further on Twitter and other social media platforms. The competition, with a prize of a pair of William Morris sunglasses per day, generated lots of interest and interaction encouraging shares with even one man creating a twitter account and sending his first ever tweet.

My client had this to say about the delivery of the Fashion Show;

“As Founder and Managing Director of Stylissimo, Emma Russell has the support of a loyal team of models, stylists and suppliers who have the expertise and passion for creating and delivering a professional fashion show.  At Optrafair this year, Emma and her team informed, entertained and engaged our audience of eye care professionals, whilst showcasing some of the industry’s cutting edge frame designs to the delight of our sponsors.  It has been a pleasure working with the Stylissimo team.”
